Dry Needling

Tight Muscles? Painful Joints? Headaches? Orthopedic Pain?

DRY NEEDLING CAN HELP!

So what is Dry Needling?

In short, it is the use of monofilament needles to stimulate and break up knotted or hard muscle tissue, also known as “trigger points”, that are located deeper in the muscle. these trigger points can cause local and spreading pain, resulting in limitations of daily activities. Dry Needling, and sometimes with the use of electrical stimulation through the needles, helps reduce trigger points by rapidly decreasing painful tension in the muscle unit, and increasing blood flow to the area to relieve pain and improve joint range of motion.

The legacy therapy Experience

A person is the sum of their “well functioning” parts, not just a body part. Patients/clients of Legacy Therapy and Wellness are treated as a whole person and not simply a “body part” (i.e. only focusing on the injured part such as the knee, shoulder, etc…). We strive to carefully evaluate and treat the source of pain and not just the patient’s symptoms. This whole-person approach leads to lasting functional outcomes and a more pain-free lifestyle!

Outcomes vary from individual to individual, however the majority of patients report significant relief even after the first session

The needles used are very thin, thus resulting in minimal to no discomfort upon insertion. Once in the trigger point a mild dull ache or tense feeling might be present but is short-lived (15-30 seconds). Mild soreness, such as after a workout, can sometimes be present for a day or two.
